Financial Aid Application - Travel
McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) is committed to ensuring that all players have the opportunity to participate in our Travel program. MYS offers financial aid for Travel registration fees based on demonstrated financial hardship. Awards are decided by the Travel Financial Aid Committee and the Executive Director. All applications and financial information provided are kept strictly confidential.
Applications
Complete applications and supporting documentation should be sent to the MYS mailing address (PO Box 724, McLean, VA 22101) or emailed to financialaid@mcleansoccer.org. Please note the following requirements:
- Applications must be fully complete to be considered.
- Players must be registered for the current season.
- A $50 acceptance deposit must be paid before the application can be reviewed.
- Applications must be received by the stated deadline to be considered for an award.
Deadlines & Seasons
Applications received by the fall deadline are considered for both the fall and spring seasons. New players joining only for the spring season may be considered for spring awards. All applicants must re-apply each fall for the upcoming year. Please note that MYS does not offer retroactive financial aid.
Eligibility
Any MYS member may apply for financial aid. Qualification is primarily based on verified family income, though the committee may consider other significant financial hardships, such as unemployment or unexpected medical expenses.
Amount of Aid Award
The MYS Board sets the total financial aid pool annually. Awards are determined on a sliding scale based on verified income. The maximum award cannot exceed the program fee minus the $50 deposit per season. Recipients may be required to complete up to eight hours of volunteer service per season; failure to complete this requirement may affect future eligibility.
Application Process
Applications are available online and must be submitted by the deadline with a signed copy of the most recent Federal tax return. All registration fees must be paid on time to maintain player eligibility.
Review & Notification
The Financial Aid Committee evaluates each application and submits proposed awards for final approval. Applicants will be notified of the decision via email shortly after the review process is complete.
