Should that change, we will notify you when a decision is rendered by the MYS Board of Directors. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Information provided by VYSA and US Soccer to clubs regarding recommendations for players and families -

March 7, 2020
MYS is monitoring the developing situation with respect to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, and will communicate to all members in the event the CDC or other public health authorities issue any specific recommendations or restrictions that would impact or apply to club games or events.
We would like to create one source for information regarding our efforts in regards to coronavirus. The link to the CDC website which updates several times daily in regards to coronavirus is: For Virginia please follow the following link: VDH's COVID-19 website for the most current information or contact your local health department if you have questions.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). There is no treatment except supportive care for coronavirus. Please get an influenza shot if you have not already as this can prevent at least a severe case of influenza.
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
To assist in limiting potential transmission of any respiratory illness, MYS is recommending the following procedures for all club games in the coming weeks:
  • Players should bring their own individual water to games and trainings to eliminate potential transmission risk from sharing cups and water stations
  • Eliminate post-game handshakes to avoid unnecessary personal contact
  • Have hand sanitizer available for your child/children that they have access to throughout the game
  • Any players, parents, or supporters with any symptoms should not attend competition or training
Common-sense, everyday preventive actions should also be taken, including:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Thank you.

Fundraising Success for Max Cure Foundation

This year, MYS expanded its fundraising efforts to support Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September. The proceeds from the sales of Gold socks and laces will benefit Max Cure - a local group founded by an MYS coach which supports local residents. Many teams purchased their gold socks and laces to wear during practices and games. We are so proud of our teams' efforts in raising $1200!

"On behalf of the Max Cure Foundation, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to McLean Youth Soccer and all the families that participated in raising money this past September in connection with childhood cancer awareness month. As part of our mission, Max Cure utilizes funds to directly support families with a child in active treatment for cancer while experiencing financial difficulties. MYS' support will provide Max Cure the ability to help support more families in the greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area in an effort to ease some of the financial burdens experienced as a result of having a child diagnosed with cancer. Max Cure has now provided in excess of $700,000 to over 150 families." ~ Jonathan Agin, Max Cure Director
