Thank you so much for volunteering to help your teams! In the busy preseason, we thought it would be helpful to send out some reminders and information. Please don't hesitate to email with any questions!
- Reminders have already been sent to all coaches and managers for field requests during August 2008 (pre-season). The deadline for submitting requests is July 18. If you did not receive the email, please contact fields@mcleansoccer.org.
- Individual families need to register on MYS website. The early bird discount expires on July 15th.
- Club reps will send emails with deadlines for team registration packets (rosters and player passes) shortly.
- Deadlines for August and September tournaments are rapidly approaching. If you want some information about opportunities, please email traveladmin@mcleansoccer.org.
- Please review State Cup page of VYSA website for details and deadlines since calendar is currently being updated.
PLEASE check the MYS website to make sure that your team's contact information is correct and up-to-date.

- Click on list of teams and select age group to view teams.
- Click on team to view contacts.
- Distribution lists used by MYS administrators, fields, club reps, etc. are based on the information listed here.
- Please make sure to check your team's listed league and website links, etc.
- If you need to make any changes, please by log in to the MYS database.
- Remember - - all VYSA rosters and player passes are generated through the VYSA database.
- Managers, coaches and assistant coaches must complete KidSafe form online BEFORE a team can register.
- Review list of information and materials you should collect from all players (see Team Managers' Page of MYS website - http://www.mcleansoccer.org/page/show/38787 )
- Go to www.VYSA.com
- Click on Registration in top menu
- Click on 2008-2008 Travel Team Registration on Left Menu
- Follow directions to register your team.
- Once you register your team, you can log in at any time to make updates and additions to your roster.
- Helpful Hint: You can enter players by team (see button at bottom of page) or you can click "players" in upper left menu. Then choose button to add players by team or by name and DOB. Most data will autopopulate. Review and add responses as needed.
- As a manager, you can keep track of how many of your rostered players have completed their MYS registration.

- Once you have logged in, click on "Team Roster".
- A very limited number of MYS "United" jersey kits are still available through PJ's in Falls Church.

As team manager, one of your primary responsibilities is to facilitate communications, and to act as a liason.
- Communicate with your Team: It is highly recommended to send a weekly email with updates (practices, games, directions, etc)
- Communicate with your Coach: If possible, email your coaches once a week to touch base about practices, tournaments, league plans, etc. Since coaches are very busy, it is best to limit conversations by phone or on-field conversations.
- Communicate with your Club: If you have questions or concerns, email traveladmin@mcleansoccer.org. You can also contact your AGD or Travel director for additional support as appropriate.
Reminder: the coaches are now paid their coaching fees through MYS.
- In order to protect the integrity of the new systems we have put in place, please be aware of the following club policies:
· Coaches are NOT allowed to charge their teams for extra training or participation in other extra-curricular activities unless explicitly approved in writing from the AGD, TD and Travel Director.
· Coaches are NOT allowed to pay any third parties or individuals directly (aka out of their own pocket) for delivery of any coaching or training services.
· Coaches are NOT allowed to schedule or hold practices (of any sort) without a permit (this includes switching with other teams, grabbing a "corner of the field", etc) - there is no longer a walk-on policy for MYS members - this is due to the recent increase support from CRS and FCPA to police all fields and kick off any individuals without a permit and compare who is on the field with what we have put into the field schedule. Always contact fields@mcleansoccer.org if they need practice times.
· In addition, going forward, teams and coaches will be held more accountable for releasing fields when not used and/or when using fields without a permit. If the policy is not followed certain field privileges may be suspended or revoked and other actions may be taken.
· All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Trainers - must be registered with VYSA as a McLean Coach, fill out a Kid-Safe and sign a "contract" with MYS. If the coach is a volunteer, please be sure that they select this as their volunteer position in the MYS On-Line Registration System. There can be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy except if a guest coach is under the direct supervision of the team coach and ONLY with the prior written approval of the AGD and Technical Director.
