End of Season Information for Managers & Getting Ready for Next Year
Coach Evaluations
- Within the next week, all players on MPS or professionally coached travel teams will receive an email regarding coach evaluations. Please encourage your families to complete these evaluations. MYS needs your feedback! These are critical for our travel directors to get a better understanding of the coaching staff, technical aspects of the program, and how well we are meeting the needs of your son and/or daughter. This feedback will be used as part of our coach development process to ensure that MYS finds, develops and maintains the best coaches for our kids. Please remember that the evaluations are completely anonymous
Team Tryouts
- Fields - by now, most teams have designated which practices are 'tryouts' in the MYS program. If you have not done so, or have any questions about fields for team tryouts, please email fields@mcleansoccer.org. Please remember login into the team page and post any information and/or details about your tryouts for interested families. This is an opportunity to tell players what they need to bring and if you want them to pre-register.
- Planning Tips
- Check your listing. At this time, the program lists all teams by their current age group. You may want to add text in your listing to clarify your age group (i.e. "rising U-14" or "birthdates: 8/1/93 - 7/31/94".
- Contact Info. If possible, provide pre-registration contact information in your team information to encourage interested players to pre-register and assign a number of possible. This also helps in developing a contact list should there be any last minute changes in tryouts.
- Day of Tryouts: Remember a sign in sheet and a way to provide numbers to all players. Some teams encourage players to use a jersey or warm-up with a number on it. Others ask all players to wear a white / gray t-shirt that can be written on, and write on the player's tryout number. Large stickers also work.
- After the Tryouts: Remember to check any vacation plans with rostered players to collect signatures before folks may head out of town
- Newspaper Contacts for Tryouts (Deadlines: Submit by Friday of the previous week):
- Connection (Sports Roundup Column)
- Gazette (Sports Briefs Column)
- Times (Tryouts and Announcements)
Team/Player Registration for 2008-2009 Season
- Reminder. As you begin to plan for the fall 2008 registration process - - all teams start with a 'clean slate'. No need to do transfers or releases.
- After tryouts are completed, as you begin to work on paperwork for the new roster, please remember to collect the following:
- Old player pass (don't give these to the families - - you will need them for registration!) or original proof of date of birth.
- Signature in BLACK ink on new player pass (full first and last name - no middle names, nicknames nor initials)
- Picture - 1 inch x 1 inch (approximately size of postage stamp)
- Basic info on all players - street address, contact information.
If a player lives in Maryland, please check with your club rep or registrar for special paperwork required.
- If a player was born outside of the US or lived outside of the US, please read through International Clearance / Waiver information or ask your club rep or registrar for details.
- Medical release forms (not necessary for VYSA registration, but it's a good time to take care of it!)
- ODSL - Signature on Code of Conduct form
- Generally, online registration system will open early to mid-July. Registration will begin in early August.
- Please remember to update the team information, including coach and manager contact information, on the MYS website. The club uses this database to communicate vital information such as registration and field request deadlines. If you have any questions about updating the team information on the website, please email traveladmin@mcleansoccer.org
League information
- Please remember to contact your league's club rep to identify intent to return/register for league in the fall. Each club rep will need this information in the next few weeks to have MYS cut the check for your team's league and VYSA fees.
Summer Fields
- Information about allocation policy for summer season will be distributed to all travel teams shortly.
