The Fairfax County Park Authority, in concert with MYS Field Operations, has implemented some changes at Lewinsville Park to minimize traffic tie ups and improve convenience. On especially busy days over the years, traffic coming into the park has taken multiple haphazard routes creating challenges for parents trying to drop off or pick up children or back out of or pull into parking places. Going forward, all incoming traffic will be directed to follow the signs for one-way traffic by turning right at the first set of parking places. The goal is that by having everyone move in the same direction, following the parking lot up the front aisle and down the back, will keep traffic moving more smoothly. In addition, a 5 minutes drop off zone has replace the handicap parking spaces to make it easier for drop offs and pick up – the handicap spaces have been conveniently moved to the second aisle of the parking lot near the baseball field.
As always, we encourage coaches, parents (and players) who plan on staying for long periods of time to utilize the far set of parking spaces to leave room for the more transient participants. Finally, when there is significant traffic causing delays trying to exit the park, we encourage drivers to turn right. Thanks for your cooperation.
