Team and Program Support

The MYS Travel and MPS programs provide a number of programs to support new and existing teams and to ensure the best possible soccer experience for our players.

The MYS Travel program has formalized age-centric training programs based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum overseen by Clyde Watson, the Technical Director for MYS and managed by our highly regarded staff of Age Group Directors (AGDs).

Our nationally recognized MPS academy approach has just completed its fifth year and has been augmented by the most skilled, experienced and licensed professional soccer trainers in the DC metro area.
 
Our top six professional coaches have more than 20 years average coaching experience, top European and USSF licenses and combined have 37 State, four Regional and one National title and more than 85% of our professional coaches have already received their US National Youth License.
 
We are also the first club in the DC metro area to integrate speed and agility training, injury prevention, sports psychology and orthopedic awareness programs including support from Dr. Neal Bowes (sports psychologist) and Dr. Christopher C. Annunziata (orthopedic physician and DC United physician)
 
As part of the implementation of the new AGD structure additional support and communications programs are also being put into place in 2008. 
 
  • Assistance and management for coach recruitment, placement, and training for all age group and all levels of play including program for regular player and coach evaluations
  • Age-group based escalation and issues management process should concerns arise (Coach > Age Group Director > Technical Director > MYS Board)
     
  • Age-group coordination for training, tournaments, tryouts, player movement between teams (and age group) and other support programs
     
  • College development program for those players aspiring for higher levels of play
     
  • Team manager support programs including best practice examples, player registration/transfer/release questions
     
  • Informational meetings to educate parents, players and coaches on club values, objectives, etc.
     
  • Website resources for players, parents and coaches with calendar events, key announcements and other relevant information
     
  • Coordinated interfaces with all leagues, state and national youth soccer leagues and organizations
