MPS POWER COACHES AND TRAINERS

The Power's Head Coach is Clyde Watson.  Clyde is the MPS Technical Director, the Washington Freedom Assistant Coach and a youth National Champion coach.  Clyde's youth teams have won multiple WAGS, Region 1 Premier League, and State Cup titles.  Clyde's former players are starters at many NCAA Division 1 schools, including "local" schools such as The University of Virginia and Princeton University, among others.  Clyde has placed players into numerous NCAA Division 1 programs, and is a frequent observer of women's Division 1 soccer as the lead Assistant Coach for the Washington Freedom of the Women's Professional Soccer league.  Imminently knowledgeable, Clyde is about developing strong soccer players who are athletic and understand the tactical elements of the game for the next level.

Clyde's assistant coach is German Peri, who is a successful youth coach, having won multiple Region 1 titles.

Both Clyde and German learned the game in South America.

The transition of the team from the U13/U14 phase to Clyde's leadership was facilitated by the Power's former Head Coach, Jamil Faryadi, a five-time State Cup Champion youth coach and Coerver foot-skills specialist.  Jamil learned the game as a youth in the Federal Republic of Germany, and he instills a sense of unparalleled teamwork and organization in his players.

The Power is not run by parents -- it is an MPS team, and as such, player selection, the training curriculum and schedule for the Power are determined by MPS. The primary focus of the Power is on solid training, which includes a strong fundamental skill set, tactical awareness and fitness, all accomplished in an environment that promotes a love of the game. Through this curriculum, Power players have competed for and won spots on the Washington Freedom SYL team, the National ODP Camp/Pool, Region 1 ODP Camp/Pool, State ODP teams (Maryland and Virginia), and Virginia’s District ODP pool.
