The Power are entertaining inquiries from players interested in joining the team. 

The Power have roster spots open for the Fall 2010 season.  Please contact Dave Johnson at drjohnson@velaw.com to set up a time to train with Clyde and the team.   

The Power are trained and coached by Clyde Watson, one of the nation’s finest women’s soccer coaches.  Clyde’s accomplishments and qualifications include the following: 

  • Washington Freedom Women’s Professional Soccer, Assistant Coach
  • National Champion Youth Coach, McLean MPS Freedom 2007
  • 2007 Girls' National Coach of the Year (awarded by NSCAA/adidas)
  • Played for Dr. I.M. Ibrahim, legendary Clemson men’s soccer coach
  • Named to the All-ACC 50th Anniversary Team as a player
  • Present and past coach of U.S. women’s stars, including Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Cat Whitehill
  • Placed dozens and dozens of players at colleges across the U.S.; Clyde’s players are currently playing at UVA, Princeton, Yale, Miami, Florida State, UCLA and others
  • Actively recruits from college programs for the WPS Washington Freedom; has unmatched relationships and name recognition with college coaches across the country
 
The Power play true possession soccer, marked by technical skill, tactical awareness and fitness.      

The team is looking to add a number of committed, impact players who share the goal of each Power player to play at the next level.  Sessions will entail training with the team.  Interested players should come as soon as possible, meet the team and Clyde and get involved in the session.

TWO MPS TEAMS WIN REGION 1 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Strikers and Dragons Advance to National Championship

The MPS U16G Strikers and MPS U18G Dragons each won the US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships during play in Barboursville WV. The two teams now advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championship to be held in Overland Park KS.
The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

The Power had a very successful showing at the PDA Girls College Showcase over Memorial Day weekend, defeating a State Cup champion and drawing with the number 3 team from New York.  The team is now turning its attention to preparations for the 2010-2011 campaign, during which the Power will play in a number of showcase tournaments. The team intends to add several committed, impact players to the roster as they move into U16 play.
