Power Ready to Start Transition to U15 Age Group and Senior MPS Ranks

06/01/09

By staff

Clyde Watson will be leading the Power at the conclusion of Spring 2009 season and for the upcoming U15 campaign. Clyde is a youth National Champion soccer coach, multiple State Cup Champion coach, MPS' Technical Director and the Washington Freedom Assistant Coach. He has coached some of the finest players in the world, and helped numerous youth players achieve their goals of reaching the U.S. National Team, professional teams and college teams. The Power is excited to be led by Clyde, who is taking over a very strong group developed by MPS’ U12 through U14 Age Group Director and outgoing Power head coach, Jamil Faryadi. The players and their families owe Jamil a debt of gratitude for his hard work, keen insight and the wonderful values that he brought to the team. Throughout the years with Jamil, the team advanced technically and tactically, and won multiple tournaments and WAGS division titles. In doing all this, Coach Faryadi held to the highest standards, as exemplified by the fact that his Power team recently was voted the WAGS Sportsmanship award by the competition when he guided them to an undefeated record and Division title while accumulating 24 goals for and yielding only 5 goals.  Thank you Jamil!

Power Reach Finals at Competitive Arlington Turf

05/30/09

By Wire

The Power played well in the Arlington Spring Invitational, making it through to the finals, after winning all its matches in group play without yielding a goal against the PWSI Courage, Chantilly Hotspur and SAC United Premier.
In the finals, the Power met up with the always-strong side, CYA Firecats. In what the Tournament Director called the most exciting half of girls soccer he had ever witnessed, the Power held a 3-2 lead at the half. However, the match went to overtime with the Firecats holding a 4-3 advantage when time expired. Arlington ran a tremendous tournament (great fields, knowledgeable referees, etc.); the Power look forward to playing Arlington again next year.
