Tryout Information for Fall '10

If you are interested in trying out for a team, please contact a manager or coach of the appropriate squad.  Please click one of the team links below for upcoming Team Tryout information. 

The MPS 95 Titans have scheduled tryouts for three of our four U14 (rising U15) boys travel soccer teams for fall 2010.  We are looking for enthusiastic soccer players born on or after August 1, 1995 (U13 in Fall 2007), who share our passion for soccer and competing with top teams. Scholarship players are welcome.  Current Titans players must try out to remain with the program.

The Titans is one of the lead teams in the MYS "one big team" model.  About 70 boys make up four squads: Green (NCSL Division 1), White (NCSL Division 4), Gold (ODSL Division 1) and Silver (ODSL Division 2). No two players wear the same number to facilitate movement between squads between seasons, during practices and at tournaments. A professional staff handles all coaching.

**NOTE THAT FOR THE 2010-2011 SEASON THE SILVER SQUAD WILL BE MERGED WITH THE GOLD SQUAD AND THAT TEAM WILL MOVE TO THE NCSL FOR THE FALL 2010 SEASON.  SILVER PLAYERS SHOULD ATTEND THE GOLD TRYOUTS.

Click here for directions to the tryout fields.  Abbreviations: *LP2=Lewinsville Park 2, SH2/SH3=Spring Hill Recreation Center fields 2 and 3, located behind and below the Spring Hill Recreation center.

SELECTION CRITERIA

All players have will be evaluated for the specific squads based on the following skills:

  1. First touch 
  2. Decision making 
  3. Speed of play 
  4. Quality execution of passes 
  5. Head up when in possession of the ball 
  6. Effort 
  7. Attitude 
  8. Commitment 
  9. Desire
Players should attend as many sessions as possible. Bring drinking water and a ball with your name. Wear shin guards (NO EXCEPTIONS!) and a plain white shirt.
