Annual electronics survey used by MYS to help improve programs and staff

In the spring season each year, MYS invites the parents of all travel players to provide feedback regarding their experiences with the MYS Technical Staff including MYS and MPS coaches. MYS uses this information along with other activities to identify areas for improvement as well as celebrating our successes. The specific survey information is very confidential and reviewed by the Travel Directors, Technical Directors and AGDs as part of their staff review process. Below are some highlights from this year's survey. While there were some technical glitches in sending out the initial survey requests, all efforts were taken to try to ensure a maximum response rate, including additional e-mail invitations and reminders to complete the survey.

Number of completed surveys.............................313
Number of email survey requests sent..............804
Response Rate.........................................................39%
Number of coaches evaluated................................32
Number of teams represented................................55
Average # of responses / team...............................5.7

Overall, there was a positive view of the general coaching experience from the parents (average of 3.94 out of a best of 5).

However, the MYS/MPS coaches scored lowest as it relates to team/player communications especially meetings with an average of 3.85.

With the implementation of the AGDs and the new Travel Administrator, several new processes and other support systems are already being put in place to help improve this area.

Please be assured that all the survey information has been reviewed, and MYS is taking steps to address any concerns or issues that were raised. Obviously, communications with our coaches is confidential; however changes are being implemented because of your input.

MYS is also proud to announce that our coaches scored highest for sportsmanship and preparedness for games and practices with an average score of 4.25.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's survey. Hopefully the overall response rate will increase next year, and the survey will be an even more valuable tool to help continuously improve MYS/MPS programs, services and staff.

MYS Rolls Out New Fall 2008 Registration Plan

05/17/08

By MYS

Fee increase helps fund Field Development Initiative. Move to consolidated payments to MYS driven by legal, financial and risk management issues and increasing administrative overhead.

Over the next few years McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) is embarking on a Field Development Initiative that will convert a number of our fields from grass to synthetic turf. The goal of this effort is to insure that every MYS player has the opportunity to learn and play the game on a quality surface.

In order to achieve this goal, the membership rates will increase beginning in Fall 2008. The fee increase is critical to the club's efforts to improve the quality of our fields, while also continuing to provide essential services to the membership.

The investment we make into our fields today will bring enjoyment for our players in years to come. We will continue to create opportunities for all players to get increasing access higher quality fields through new training opportunities, camps and other programs as more fields become available.
