MYS Referee Program

Ref_small

McLean Soccer employs certified assistant referees in older age groups based on availability. Where certified assistant referees are not available, McLean Soccer uses club, or volunteer, assistant referees who have responsibility for noting only in and out of touch and direction.

For some of our Travel Leagues, due to the shortage of certified referees, parent volunteers must also become certified referees called Step In Assistant Referees (SIAR). In many cases, as many as two parents per team are required.

New Referee Opportunities

We are looking for 13-18 year olds who want to help the MYS soccer program and earn money for the fall soccer season.

To work in Mclean you must be a USSF certified referee at the “level 8” category. To get certified you must attend an 18 hour course and pass an exam for a USSF level 8 referee. This certification can be obtained by going though any “Level 8” course approved by VYSA.

To attend you must complete online registration and sign up for clinic (two-step process) at the State Referee Program web page: www.vadcsoccerref.com

Cost of the class is: $65. You can pay on-line or bring check to class, checks to be made out to "State Referee Program."

There are no MYS sponsored courses for  this summer 2008. There are other courses in the area which satisfy the requirement for McLean as long as it is a "USSF Level 8" course with at least 18 hours of instruction.

If you have a problem registering and signing up for a clinic, e-mail Ray Crawford, refs@mcleansoccer.org .
