MPS United U10 Girls Capture the Virginia Cup at The Virginian Soccer Tournament over Memorial Day Weekend
Congratulations to the MPS United U10 girls for completing an undefeated year in WAGS and capturing the Virginia Cup at The Virginian Soccer Tournament over Memorial Day Weekend.
The girls beat the Wyckoff Torpedos 5-0 and Vista Infinity 4-0 on the first day of the tournament. On the second day, the girls battled to a 0-0 stalemate with an incredibly gifted and well-coached Northern Virginia Majestics side. The draw put United through to the semis where they downed the Buckingham Banshees out of Pennsylvania 5-0, only to learn that they would face the Majestics again in Monday’s final. United and the Majestics competed fiercely but neither side could break a 1-1 deadlock throughout regulation and then two overtime periods. The United proceeded to make all 5 of their first round penalty kicks to defeat the Majestics and put a perfect finish on their incredible season. Good job ladies !

MPS United Green
The MPS U10G United Green battled their way to consecutive second place finishes at the Dulles tournament in late August and the OBGC Cup over Labor Day weekend.
Over four games at Dulles, the team enjoyed the fruits of its commitment to technical development by compiling a 2-1-1 record. After a 0-0 draw with the Herndon Saints, the girls earned a 2-0 defeat over a tough Sterling Orange squad, then upended an extremely gifted NVSC Majestics side in a 3-2 thriller. The United girls dropped a 2-1 decision to the same Majestics in the finals, but, nevertheless, the team demonstrated that it is clearly a team on the rise.
The United Green duplicated their second place finish at the Dulles tournament with a tremendous effort at the OBGC Capital Cup Labor Day tournament. In taking home second place medals for the second consecutive weekend, the girls defeated an NBC- LRTC that had beaten them 7-1 last year in the semis finals before falling 2-1 in an incredible contest versus SAC United (a team that defeated them 13-0 a year before). The girls are to be commended for their amazing progress, which is a tribute to their drive and the MPS training methodology.
