We need YOU!

MYS volunteers are extraordinary individuals who selflessly give of their time so the youth in our community can play soccer. In advance of the 2010 Annual Membership Meeting in March we are seeking volunteers to serve on the MYS Board and other areas of the club.

Following is a list of positions we are seeking to fill for the upcoming election including a brief description of the responsibilities of each Board position.

  • Vice Chair serves as key member of the Board and Executive Committee and back up in the absence of the Chair. Some responsibilities include the nominating committee and Board slate, volunteer recruitment, special projects (e.g., McLean Day), and general support to other areas of the club when needed.

  • Deputy Travel Director works with the Travel Director to ensure the MYS/MPS travel programs are a success each season. Responsibilities include working with the AGDs, helping organize the MPS and MYS travel training programs (e.g., BallMasters and Skills Training) as well as PSA spring break and summer camp programs.

  • Deputy Recreation Director works with the Recreation Director to ensure the MYS house program is a success each season. Responsibilities include working with the AGCs, SFL, helping organize the end of season round robin tournament, uniforms, and the fall/spring all stars program.

  • Field Development Initiative Director and Deputy Director will take the lead for the club in working with the county, community, other sports, and other entities to advance the clubs initiative to develop additional rectangular fields in and around the McLean area.

  • Referee Director works to train and license the core of referees in the MYS club as well as oversee the referee scheduler and scheduling program.

  • Development Director will work to identify, solicit, and obtain outside sponsorships to help support the US Development Academy program, as well as other travel and recreation programs and field development initiatives.

  • IT Director will work with the Communications Director as well as other key Board and club contacts to review club IT needs and facilitate the transition to any updates including but not limited to the registration process. Additionally, this individual will take a lead role in maintaining the MYS website.

  • Strategic Advisor will help the Board complete a Strategic Plan for the next five years and will serve as an Advisor to the Board as it moves forward with its short- and long-term goals.

Other non-Board volunteer opportunities include Quartermaster (handle uniform and equipment needs for travel and rec programs), Field Committee (check fields to determine playability), Field Development Committee (help work to build and access additional fields in the McLean community), Communications, IT and Website Support, and Finance Committee (work with Treasurer on various projects).

If you are interested in volunteering to serve on the MYS Board in one of these positions or any other capacity within the club, please contact Maureen Dalbec, at vicechair@mcleansoccer.org

Please mark your calendars to join us at the Annual Meeting and Election of Board Officers on Monday, March 8, 2010, at McLean High School's Auditorium.
