MYS ECNL program concluded another successful year, with 3 of the 5 MYS teams ranked in the top 25 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com.  U14's were ranked #24, U17's ranked  #10, and U18 ranked # 5.  (U13 ECNL does not track scores or standings.)

Additionally, the MYS ECNL U16's played for the North American Championship in July, making a strong run in Richmond for the title (see separate article).
ECNL teams make up 85-100 % of the top 25 teams in the U15-18 age groups, underscoring the strength of the league across the country.

U23 Update

The MYS ECNL U23 team lost a heartbreaker to Richmond Strikers in the National Championship game in Richmond, Virginia, on July 14. In the Semi-final, McLean defeated a strong Scott Gallagher team from Missouri to advance to the Final where they faced the Richmond Strikers.  After an intense 90 minutes of play, McLean and Richmond  headed into overtime tied 0 - 0.   McLean went up 1 - 0 in the first overtime on Morgan Reuther's goal.  Just before the end of second overtime, Richmond came back to score and tie the game at 1 - 1.  The game then went to penalty kicks where Richmond prevailed.

This was the second year of the ECNL U23 program, which gives college aged players an opportunity to train and play during the summer in a very competitive league.    It is also the second straight year that the MYS team has played at the National Finals.

The U23 team will continue to train until players return to college in early August.
