McLean's Extreme Green 97 team is eyeing the Spring 2014 season with high expectations and hopes of continuing on with an incredible performance streak.  August 2013, Extreme Green opened their fall season with the OBGC Capitol Cup Labor Day Tournament in Olney, MD.  The competition was tough but the team was able to compete in the group stage. Moving onto the semi-finals, Extreme Green was able to hold off the Maryland State Cup Semi-finalists in regular and extra time forcing a PK shoot-out.  Sadly, for all of Extreme Green's valiant efforts, they were unable to advance to the finals.  Although experiencing a setback, the amount of character and sheer determination to compete that the team displayed against such adversity would set the tone for the season to come.

Fall 2013 was the first season under new coach Cindi Harkes, and along with a new infusion of talent, Cindi's coaching style cultivate a highly competitive environment.

This translated well on the field as the team repeatedly displayed a never quit attitude. That semi-final loss in the OBGC Capitol Cup was the last the team would allow for the remainder of the year as the team stacked up victory after victory going undefeated in their WAGS Division 2 Championship run and top finishes at both the Discovery Cup and CASL College Showcase.

Spring 2014 will provide a whole new set of challenges for Extreme Green.  Having already secured a 2015 Jefferson Cup berth by battling towards a finalist spot at last month's Jeff Cup Qualifier, Extreme Green will have  to up the ante as they set out to compete in WAGS High School Division 1 against the area's top U16, U17, & U18 teams.  Memorial Day weekend will pit Extreme Green against some of the stiffest competition to date as they travel north to New Jersey to compete in the PDA College Showcase.

There is no doubt that Cindi and the girls have their work cut out for them this spring, but letting the past few months stand as a testament to what a hard work ethic and determination can achieve, the Extreme Green may overcome all odds.
