McLean Youth Soccer is extremely proud to have one of our players represented on the U-20 Women’s National Team roster. Andi Sullivan is a member of Brent Leiba’s U18 ECNL team and was recently named to the WNT roster. She has played for a variety of teams in the DC area, including Bethesda SC, Washington Spirit, and DC United Women. Being the youngest player on the Women’s National Team, this is a well-deserved honor for Andi and wish her the very best of luck.
In a recent Top Drawer Soccer article it was noted that though Andi is listed as a midfield but she can play in any position the team needs her in. Top Drawer recognized that, “Her technical ability is a huge plus for the coaching staff, which is trying to push this group to really build the attack from the back. However, Sullivan’s vision and tactical knowledge may be needed more in the midfield in the Cayman Islands.” MYS Technical Director, Clyde Watson, has worked with Andi for years, and shares, “Andi is an excellent soccer player, but an even better person. It is a privilege to interact with her.” Coach Brent Leiba adds, “"It's been an honor to have Andi apart of our program. She is a fantastic player and teammate. Congratulations on being named to the U-20 WNT roster...Go USA!"
Please join McLean Youth Soccer in supporting Andi, her teammates, and coaches in the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in George Town, Cayman Islands from Jan. 9-19th. The USA opens Group A play on Thursday, Jan. 9th against Costa Rica, then will face Jamaica on Saturday, and finishing group play in a match against Guatemala on Monday. The semi-final matches will be held on Friday, Jan. 17th with the Championship and Third-Place matches taking place on the 19th. Al three of the USA’s group play games will kick off at 7:30 pm ET.
