After a long and successful 11-1 Super Y season, playing under the Washington Freedom youth club banner, several MPS Power players traveled to Tampa, Florida and ended just shy of a national championship. Power players -- along with several girls from other WAGS Division 1 and 2 teams -- drew even in Tampa, dropping closely contested matches to teams from Atlanta and Boston and prevailing in matches against teams from California and Cleveland. The Power players thank the Freedom organization for tremendous coaching (Clyde Watson, Jamil Faryadi, Ellis Pierre) and the opportunity to compete on the national stage. The Freedom organization did a wonderful job of organizing some of the top area players -- from the Herndon Elite, Bethesda Freedom, CYA Firecats, Westminster Wolves and the Power -- into a team that played some of the most attractive, dangerous soccer at the North American finals in Tampa. Looking forward to next year, Freedom!
