MYS fielded 14 teams to compete in the 2018 Herndon All-Star tournament over the weekend of November 17-18. Thanks to all the All-Star coaches for providing this opportunity to the players!

Congrats to the U9 Boys, U11 Girls, U12 Girls, and U14 Girls who were finalists, and the U16 Girls who were Champions in their brackets!

The U9 Boys All-Star team made it to the finals of the second division. The boys played hard and with heart and overall the weekend tournament was a success for the team!

The U9 Girls All-Star team went 2-1-1 on Saturday and was seeded 5th out of 14, and played the 4th seed team on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, they lost but the girls played their hearts out and their coach was incredibly proud of everyone. The All-Star tournament was such a great experience and they all hope to come back together in the spring!

The U11 Boys All-Star White team came together and won a number of games in its bracket. They made it to the qualifiers and semi-finals and the boys played hard and gave their hearts out for the team. They had great passes and team spirit and the players hope to relive those moments next spring. The team thanks MYS for providing the opportunity to compete.

The U11 Girls All-Star team were finalists in the tournament!

The U12 Boys All-Stars captured a #4 seeding going into the Herndon knockout round on Sunday, after putting on an incredible 3-1 show of force against the #3 seed and drawing the eventual tournament champions 0-0 on Saturday. The game results and final tournament standing are not representative of the amazing skill and smart, passionate play this young team displayed. This outstanding team truly created some magic on the pitch this weekend and represented their club and community well!

The U14 Girls All-Stars went winless and goal-less on the first day of the tournament but fought back the second day and knocked off the #2 and #3 seeds to make it to the Championship game for the third year in a row! The girls ended the tournament as finalists, being defeated by the #1 seeded Vienna 2-1.

The U16 Girls All-Star Team took the 1st Place Champions title in the top flight of the tournament. They had a fantastic day on Saturday winning all four games, scoring 11 goals, allowing only 1 goal, earning the 1st place seed and securing a spot in the semi-finals. Sunday was another amazing day of soccer with a 1-0 win against VSA and a convincing 4-1 win against Chantilly in the finals. The girls played with high energy and passion all weekend long, displaying improvements in teamwork and possession with every game. Everyone had a blast and we are so proud of them!

The U19 Boys All-Star Team was seeded 3rd of 14 teams after the Qualification Round with a 4-0-1 record. This seed was quite an achievement for a young U19B team comprised of 12 Sophomores, 4 Juniors and 2 Seniors. The team reached the semifinal before falling to Sterling (1-2) with a 1-1-0 record. The quality of play was outstanding and a tribute to the players who pride themselves in ball and player movement in possession and penetration, coupled with high pressure defending. The team was anchored by Goalkeeper Utsav Ghimire and Centerback Jaden Hartman, and led by Kobe McCowan with 3 goals and Luis Najarro with 4 goals. The team was coached by Mike Calabrese, Vince Sprouls and Mario Guillen.

U12B McLean 1 finished the season strong with just one loss in their last 7 games. They had a very well balanced team with 12 of the 17 rostered players scoring at least one goal during the season. They played a tough Herndon team in the tournament finals and the game went into penalty kicks with their goalie stopping the final Herndon PK for an exciting and dramatic Championship win for McLean. The players celebrated by rushing the field and tackling their goalie after the winning save.

U13B McLean 4 won their division of the SFL torunament in an exciting and challenging final. The team had a great season with 61 goals scored and only 10 conceded over 10 games. It was a fun season for them and they're especially proud of their defensive record.

U14B McLean 2 had a slow start to their season and took some time to gel. In spite of losing their initial games, however, they showed good fundamentals and refused to give up. The team worked hard to build their skills and focus on working together. Their hard work paid off with their first win midway through the season. Buoyed by this success, the team quickly got to work showing its resilience and refusal to give up. Each passing game built on the team's cohesiveness and confidence, culminating in the tournament weekend when the team truly peaked. They confidently won their first game and also won the Championship 3-1. Congratulations to a team which came from behind this season to show its heart and determination.

U16G McLean 2 had a fantastic weekend of soccer during the SFL Tournament. They beat Fauquier with a final score of 5-0 and then the girls advanced to the division finals playing Prince William and securing the Championship with a final score of 1-0. Both games were super challenging and the girls played some beautiful possession soccer, scoring goals from crosses to goal, corner kicks, break always, and connected passes inside the box. The girls and the coaches had so much fun! Pictured here with the team are coaches, Rachel Deutsch, Jing Li and Ted Sibert.

Following a great SFL season, the U16G McLean 3 team put together an undefeated tournament weekend winning the Championship 2-1 with a last minute goal. This season saw the girls focusing on passing, creating space and unselfish play on the pitch which proved invaluable in the challenging tournament play. The players continually took the field with a high level of fitness and motivation, and had strong MYS parental support from the sidelines throughout an exceptional season.

After a string of disappointing losses in the regular season, the U16B McLean 4 team finished the season on a high note winning 1st place in their division at the end-of season tournament. The team won its semi-final match 4-0 over a tough Annandale squad, followed by a 5-0 victory against another formidable opponent from Haymarket. The victories were the result of having a full squad, with outstanding team play, particularly in the defensive end with stellar defense and solid goalkeeping. The team looks forward to another successful campaign in the Spring.

U19G McLean 1 (Spirit) closed the season on a high note, clinching a 2-0 over NVSC and 1-0 over Herndon at the end of the season tournament to secure 1st place. Both games were tight and the girls played a terrific possession game to stay in control.
